Hurricane Ida caused widespread damage and flooding, where it made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 storm and traveled north, inflicting more casualties. Your donation to the Hurricane Ida Relief Fund will provide emergency aid like food, water, medicine, and shelter to impacted communities. Once immediate needs are met, this fund will provide long-term assistance, with a focus on locally led responses. All donations to this fund will exclusively support communities and first responders.
Hurricane Ida landed in Louisiana with winds over 150 mph, making it one of the strongest storms to hit the region in more than a century. Multiple people died in the storm's path. Ida has also caused widespread power outages. Thousands are displaced from their homes and the situation is even more dire because of the COVID-19 strain on the medical system.
All donations to this fund will support relief and recovery efforts after Hurricane Ida. Initially, funds will help first responders meet survivors' immediate needs for food, fuel, clean water, hygiene products, and shelter. The fund will later transition to support longer-term recovery efforts run primarily by local, vetted organizations in the communities affected in the United States.

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.
We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.
They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
