Guarantee health services for LGBTIQ+ community

During this period, Fundación Huésped continued merging innovation and human rights. Thanks to the GlobalGiving community, we provided over 4,800 comprehensive services, free professional counseling, and CSE across several provinces. From pioneering programs to ensuring mental health care to those who need it most, our work demonstrates how collective solidarity breaks down barriers and ensures equity.

Our Impact

• Between February and May, we conducted 1,659 free tests for HIV and other STIs, maintaining a consistent presence both at our health center and through strategic community outreach in several provinces across the country.

• Our legal team provided expert guidance and support to 1,504 individuals, ensuring that barriers to health and discrimination are addressed through free professional counseling.
  
  
• We provided specialized psychological care to 203 people, offering a safe space for emotional support and mental health wellness to those who need it most.
  
  
• During this period, 1,465 people participated in our educational networks —including 795 in-person attendees and 670 virtual participants— strengthening the reach of comprehensive sexual education

Recent Key Activities

We are incredibly proud to announce the successful completion of the "TRANSformá tu Salud" clinical trial, a pioneering smoking cessation program designed specifically for the transgender community. We implemented an intervention for 40 participants. 92.5% of the participants completed the study's follow-up, and over 25% successfully quit smoking. This community-centered approach is the first of its kind globally.

We advanced with "Proyecto Mariposa", a study aimed at developing a participatory diagnosis regarding access to sexual and reproductive health for trans masculinities and non-binary individuals with gestational capacity across Latin America. We concluded the data collection phase, successfully gathering 1,589 responses to our regional survey from countries all over the continent. 

We hosted the "Paco Maglio" conference, focused on the intersection of justice and health. A major highlight was the dialogue session dedicated to the effective health access of Children and Adolescents. We tackled challenges such as the implementation of Comprehensive Sex Education (ESI), youth mental health issues, and the complex realities of institutionalization and confinement, fostering exchanges to protect the rights of our youngest generations.
