F SSIBU Mission Foundation – Uganda is creating meaningful pathways for teenage mothers to move beyond vulnerability and rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence and renewed hope. Through a holistic support approach, young mothers are being equipped with practical skills, health knowledge, mentorship and support for their children.
Our vocational training is helping teenage mothers discover their potential through tailoring, electrical engineering, hair waving and modern farming. These skills provide practical opportunities for income generation and self-employment. With appropriate support and continued guidance, young mothers can use these skills to establish small businesses, secure employment and contribute to the wellbeing of their families.
We are also strengthening sexual and reproductive health awareness among teenage mothers. They receive education on reproductive health, responsible decision-making and pregnancy prevention. This knowledge helps reduce the risk of repeat teenage pregnancies and enables young women to make informed choices that can protect their health and future opportunities.
The program extends its impact to the children of these young mothers. Vulnerable children receive milk powder and free medicines to help address nutritional and basic healthcare needs. By supporting both mother and child, the program helps create a stronger foundation for family wellbeing.
Monthly mentorship sessions ensure that the transformation does not end when a training session is completed. Young mothers receive continued encouragement, life-skills guidance, goal-setting support and opportunities to discuss challenges affecting their personal and economic development. This consistent engagement helps them remain focused on their aspirations.
Donor investment is critical to sustaining this transformation. Contributions can help provide vocational training materials, mentorship, reproductive health education, child nutrition and medical support.
By investing in teenage mothers, donors are investing in entire families. The impact extends from one young woman gaining a skill to a child receiving proper nutrition, a family becoming more resilient and a community benefiting from empowered young mothers who can become positive examples to others.
