Abandoned teenage mothers and their babies can experience significant barriers to accessing healthcare, adequate nutrition, emotional support, and essential information. Our health and wellbeing activities seek to address these vulnerabilities by connecting young mothers and their children with appropriate health services and community support systems.
Through community outreach, health education, referrals, and follow-up, we encourage teenage mothers to access antenatal and postnatal care, child immunization, nutrition services, family planning information, and other appropriate reproductive and child-health services. We also promote hygiene, breastfeeding where appropriate, infant care, and healthy practices that can protect both mother and child.
Equally important is psychosocial support. Abandonment can leave young mothers feeling isolated, rejected, ashamed, or hopeless. Our mentorship and support sessions create safe spaces where they can share experiences, receive encouragement, strengthen their confidence, and reconnect with supportive community networks. Where specialized needs are identified, we facilitate referrals to qualified professionals and appropriate services.
The benefits are significant. A supported teenage mother is more likely to seek timely healthcare, understand her child's needs, practice safer health behaviors, and develop confidence in caring for her family. Early intervention can also help reduce preventable risks associated with poverty, isolation, and lack of information.
Donors play a vital role in making this holistic support possible. Their contributions can help provide dignity kits, nutrition support, educational materials, outreach activities, transportation assistance for referrals where appropriate, and psychosocial support resources.
Our vision is to ensure that abandonment does not determine the health or future of a young mother and her child. By investing in their wellbeing today, donors help create healthier families, stronger communities, and a more hopeful future.
