Seeing the Difference Made

By Linda To | Executive Director, HER Fund

reflections on applying their learnings to work
reflections on applying their learnings to work

Basic Core training on organizational management for the 3 marginalized women's organizations had completed 6 months ago, but the 3-year Capacity Building project continues with in-house trainers to guide their work and help them to integrate their learnings to their work in the organization. They are also preparing their DIY community project and to fundraise HK$10,000 to meet the matching grant of HK$ 40,000  to launch the community project. We are excited to share with you that last week, we had a mid-evaluation sharing session with the participants from the 3 organizations. They shared how they applied their learnings to the daily organization's work such as designing activities, nurturing new members and outreaching work in the community.

In the sharing session, they shared their most updated work and activities, their organization's most exciting recent progress and their future work plan. At the same time, they were asked to cross-check what were the skills and knowledge they had used from their capacity building training. It was amazed to see all three groups can make good use of their learnings to strengthen the quality of their service, such as activites they planned were now more systematic; they knew how to make a realistic budget and finance control of each program; they realized the importance of program evaluation and designed ways to collect feedback from the participants; and more, they had raised some amount of donations from their fundraising event. Another encouraging news is, one grassroots woman leader is now being employed as a paid part-time organizer in their organization. She expressed that ," I am more confident in myself and I used the things I learnt from the training in my work all the time ! "

Seeing their growth and positive change is the best evidence of empowerment ! In the coming months, we are to raise enough donations for the matching grant to support their DIY community projects. We hope you will donate to this meaningful capacity building initiative as a recognition to their efforts and achievements made !
