Help youth in Costa Rica build a brighter future!

Nico is one of Lifting Hands' adolescents that benefit from this project. She wanted to let youu know how her dream of being a volunteer was fulfilled. 

"3 years ago I was given the honor of being a volunteer at the Lifting Hands Foundation and it was very exciting because I have learned many things and I started to think: my dream of being a volunteer was finally fulfilled. I feel that there are days when that we need to be encouraged to continue doing what we like and what better way than to help people who need it and who have support or a friend to talk to.

As human beings we are prone to having good and bad days, in which we wake up disoriented and not knowing what to do. Thanks to the Foundation I am a volunteer and now my dream is to be the director of Lifting Hands in the future. In Lifting Hands you can learn, fulfill dreams and help others to do it too.

Imagine loving someone, seeing them every week, and from one day to the next receiving a message from their mother telling you that the next day, they no longer have anything to eat, work, or money. That was what happened to us a few weeks ago when the layoffs began as a result of the Covid-19. On the first days, we were able to support with the food we had, but the number of families grew. We built up a new campaign: Where one eats, two eat.

Unfortunately, it is found that this economic crisis will go on for several months, so we proposed that no one be left without eating. It is the least we can do right now.

As a consequence of the Covid-19, many of the families we supported have lost their jobs and therefore resources to meet their basic needs, so we decided to join as a family to support them.

On the other hand, boys and girls are managing high levels of anxiety and stress because being inside their homes, which in many occasions are small and with little or no entertainment, so we generated play kits for each family and we managed to migrate much of our program to a virtual one.
