Burns are one of the most expensive conditions to treat. This is because there is alot of frequent dressing of the wounds and treatment done. These wounds take quite sometime to fully heal. In the past three months Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital treated nine children with severe burns.
All these children were managed and treated from our Hospital up to full recovery.
We are able to attend to our patients with the best treatment for burns because of the support inform of donations. These donations strictly go for the treatment of the children who are diagnosed with burns. This also involves taking some of these children for further skin grafting whenever required.
So far the Hospital has raised $17,252 for this project which is helping to save alot of lives of children with severe burns.
We thank you so much for the continuous support of our children.

Treating burns is one of the most expensive treatments at our Hospital especially when the total burns surface area is large. Whisper can spend over $1,351 on a single patient with total burns surface area of above 40% when daily dressing, treatment and skin grafting is involved.

We have so far registered 14 severe burns cases since this year started and the major cause of burns among our patients as reported by most caretakers at our Hospital is domestic violence/child abuse. Most of the burn cases we receive are usually not accidental.

When the investigations were done by our social workers, it was found out that most of our patients are burnt intentionally. They poured on hot water or even hot porridge by one of the members in their families forexample a harsh stepmother, grandmother or inlaws.

Most of these children come from very poor families and are rescued from such severe burns by good samaritans and are brought to Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital where they are taken good care of until they are fully healed. We thank you so much for supporting this project.

Since the beginning of this year, Whisper's Magical Children's Hospital and Maternity has adimitted 10 children diagnosed with burns. Most of these burns were very severe.

Burns are expensive to treat depending on the burns surface area of the body. Some of the patients we receive are referrals from other Hospitals and clinics which fail to manage such conditions especially if the child is severely burnt.

Although these patients take a long time to heal, Whisper has managed to save all of them. This project has helped the community in a way that we receive patients who come from very poor families and cannot afford any money for treatment. They are sometimes rejected by other Hospitals who charge for everytime dressing of the wound is done therefore they come to our Hospital hoping for a change in the services and to save the child's life. We treat them for free upto the time when they are fully healed.

We are able to manage such charitable services because of the donations we get from our generous donors. such projects have saved our patients's lives and are so appreciated by the caretakers.

In the last 13 months, Whisper has dressed and treated 51 patients with burns. All the 51 patients we received with burns are babies and children not above 13 years of age.

We spend a lot of money on daily dressing of the wounds and treatment for the long time our burns patients spend on the ward to fully heal. Through the support of our generous donors, we have been able to get medicine and dressing gauze for these young, beautiful children with burns.

Most of the patients received had severe burns of up to 40% burn surface area of which the child is brought to the hospital at the point of death after having tried other unsuccessful treatments from other health centres.

We thank all the kind hearted individuals for the support and guidance towards our *Help Fund a Children's Burn Unit in Uganda Project*. Many lives of these young souls have been saved.

In a month we receive at least three children with severe burns. These patients spend a minimum period of three weeks in the burns unit. Basing on gathered data from the hospital, it is because of child neglect that these little children become fire victims as reported by their caretakers.

Alot of money is spent on daily dressing and treatment for the long time our patients spend in the burns unit depending on the total surface area of the body that is burnt.

With your donations, we have so far managed to save 40 children with burns in the last ten months. The locals are so proud of the significant impact this project has on the burns patients.

We thank everyone who is donating towards this project, you are saving so many children's lives in Uganda.
