For too long, when global health decisions were made, palliative care was forgotten. People living with serious illness—and those at the end of life—were left to suffer in silence because talking about death felt too uncomfortable.
That is starting to change, but progress is fragile. When people with cancer or other serious illnesses cannot access pain relief or care at home, the consequences are devastating. Families watch their loved ones suffer, knowing help exists—but isn’t reaching them.
We know how to relieve pain and suffering. What’s missing is the political will to make palliative care part of every health system.
This work is complex, urgent, and costly—and it depends on showing up where global decisions are made. Please support WHPCA today. Health is a human right, and relief from suffering cannot wait.
