Over the months of the cold season, the Ukrainian Red Cross continued its winter support of those most vulnerable. We are happy to share some of the updates below.
The Ukrainian Red Cross has successfully completed the Winter Cash Assistance 2024/2025 programme aimed at supporting households affected by the war. The assistance provided financial support to help meet basic needs during the winter months.
Over 10 thousand families in nine regions of Ukraine received cash support. The total budget for the programme exceeded UAH 224 million. The vulnerability groups included, among others, the following:
single parents
internally displaced persons
parents (or guardians) of children undergoing cancer treatment
parents and guardians of children with disabilities
low-income large families
This initiative is part of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s ongoing efforts to support those in need. During this challenging winter period, we remain committed to ensuring a decent standard of living for everyone.
As part of the strengthening electricity independence of social care facilities, we have delivered 29 generators to the Vinnytsia region. Each diesel generator has a capacity of 7 kW, is cost-effective to maintain, and is easy to use.
Besides, three generators have been delivered to social service institutions in Poltava region:
two 7 kW generators for a residential care facility and a psychoneurological nursing home,
one 30 kW generator for a geriatric nursing home.
To support healthcare facilities in the Kharkiv region and ensure access to vital medicine for all, we provided 30 kW generators to two key healthcare facilities in the region, which together treated 45,000 patients in 2024. They provide a wide range of medical services, including surgery, traumatology, therapy, rehabilitation, palliative care, emergency dental care, and more.
In cooperation with central government authorities and in accordance with a resolution from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Red Cross has joined the distribution of liquefied petroleum gas to residents of the Sumy region.
As part of a pilot project, the Ukrainian Red Cross has funded the storage, transportation, and refilling of gas cylinders for 800 households. This support is aimed at helping residents in frontline areas, where hostilities have occurred or are ongoing, meet their basic needs, including the means to prepare food.
We stand by those in need, and your support gives us hope and the drive to continue!
