It is now obvious that the upcoming cold season in Ukraine will prove one of the most challenging in its history. According to Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy programs at the Razumkov Center, more than 70% of all Ukrainian generation facilities are currently destroyed, damaged or occupied.
Even now, during summer months, Ukrainians are facing daily power outages, receiving electricity for only several hours per day. In cold months, the effects can be way worse, as the entire heating system will be affected.
To improve Ukrainians' rezilience, the Ukrainian Red Cross has been supplying power generators and other essentials to critical infrastructure facilities, medical and social institutions all-year-round. Here are some highlights from the past few months:
