Help Transport 7000 women for Cancer treatment

Patient Relief Mission (PRM) exists to improve cancer care and management for female patients and their caregivers by providing hostel accommodation, transport to and from the Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) for treatment, and three meals a day to patients from rural areas who would otherwise have nowhere to stay while receiving treatment in Kampala.

PRM was founded with the aim of ending the needless suffering experienced by cancer patients and their families during treatment.

Thanks to the continued support of our partners and donors, we have made significant progress in improving the infrastructure and services that will support our beneficiaries.

During the reporting period, we completed the construction of the front concrete perimeter fence, greatly enhancing the security of both the facility and the patients who will be accommodated there. We are also in the final stages of preparing the hostel for occupancy as we work toward receiving patients in a safe, comfortable, and dignified environment.

To improve the overall wellbeing of future residents, we have continued landscaping efforts around the facility and planted additional trees that will provide shade and a more comfortable outdoor environment for patients and caregivers. We have also continued to improve the road network and drainage systems around the site.

The drainage trench has been reinforced to reduce the impact of heavy rains, which previously caused erosion, landslides, and damage to property. These improvements will ensure safer and more reliable access to the facility throughout the year.

Recognizing the importance of sanitation and hygiene for vulnerable cancer patients, we have constructed improved toilet facilities at the site. These facilities will provide greater comfort, privacy, and dignity for patients and caregivers while they wait for treatment services and accommodation.

In addition, we have continued to maintain and service our transport van, which is a critical component of our patient support program. Regular servicing and maintenance have ensured that the vehicle remains roadworthy, reliable, and available to transport patients safely to and from the Uganda Cancer Institute. This ongoing investment helps us protect both our beneficiaries and the resources entrusted to us by our supporters. Success Story One of our major achievements during this period has been the successful completion of the roofing works for both the hostel and the staff quarters. This milestone brings us significantly closer to making the facility fully operational and capable of serving cancer patients and their caregivers. We have also continued improving accessibility to the facility through grading and routine maintenance of the surrounding roads. These efforts have made the site more accessible and will facilitate easier movement for patients, caregivers, staff, and service providers. As we look ahead, our focus remains on completing the remaining works required to make the hostel fully operational. Project Progress and Facility Improvements With the generous support of our partners and donors, PRM has made significant progress in strengthening the infrastructure and readiness of our hostel facility

. • The administrative office has been fully improved and is now ready to serve as the operational centre for hostel management and patient coordination.

• The compound has been prepared and reinforced through the construction of additional drainage trenches to mitigate landslides during periods of heavy rainfall.

• The store and medicine room have been upgraded to safely and securely house medications intended for cancer patients.

• Additional security cameras have been installed across the facility to ensure the safety of patients, caregivers, staff, and property.

Key Achievements and Success Stories

• Successfully completed the installation of culverts to direct water flow and prevent damage and losses caused by landslides. •

Constructed protective shades around the facility to improve comfort and usability of outdoor spaces.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, PRM will finalize work on the compound as we prepare to begin receiving patients. These efforts bring us closer to providing a safe, dignified, and supportive environment for women undergoing cancer treatment.
