Last December the Rava Foundation inaugurated the eight school in Central Italy. It's a maternity school located in the village of Pieve Torina, one of the communities most affected by the earthquake, where 90% of the buildings are inagible to this date. The inhabitants of Pieve Torina have lived for two years in temporary small wooden houses provided by the Civil Protection.
As soon as this project was completed, the Foundation commited to build a sports center dedicated to the students of all levels, and a multiuse center for the families, for a total of 740 sqm.
The new structure will form a conntinuum with the school recently delivered. It will maintain the same construction tipology and will be acccessible directly from the main road and will also be directly connected to the school.
The building will consist of a main volume, occupied by the actual gym and a smaller cue, divided on two floors, which will house the changing rooms, on the ground floor, and a gym on the first floor. The gym will be able to accommodate a volleyball court and will stand in continuity with the outdoor garden. The gym service areas include a deposit for sports equipment, technical rooms, a local infirmary, locker rooms for students and locker rooms for teachers. Through an internal connecting staircase you will reach the first floor which will house a small gym with tools or for activities in small groups.
The choice of the area in which to raise the new school translates the will that this new building be a point of reference for the whole community. The central position and continuity with the communal garden, the very concept of spaces and the multiplicity of routes and accesses will offer the community a great usability and flexibility of use even during extra-school hours. To complete the endowment of spaces realized with the school, the gym, with its bigger dimensions, will offer the possibility to the citizens to meet again to carry out sports activities and aggregations generally useful to strengthen the sense of community. The internal space of the gym will continue to the outside with a partly paved and partly green space to be used for outdoor play or for events, to be completed with the provision of spaces serving the community.
We ask you to support this new project for the families of Pieve Torina.
