Two years have passed since the devastating earthquake in Central Italy.
After the first shock of 24 August 2016, the Francesca Rava Foundation immediately started up. The experience in the front line matured in Haiti in the 2010 earthquake emergency and then in Emilia, Nepal, Ecuador, permitted us to develop technical and logistical skills that proved fundamental.
We coordinated a large team with institutions, donors and technicians, which so far allowed us to inaugurate 7 schools in the areas most affected by the earthquake: 1 school in 2016, 5 in 2017 and 1 in 2018. Specifically: 6 anti-seismic school facilities in Umbria (Norcia, Cascia and Eggi) and 1 in the Marche region (Arquata del Tronto).
Currently, construction work is underway for a new kindergarten that will be inaugurated in October in Pieve Torina (MC), where 90% of the buildings are unusable.
About 1,000 students are beneficiaries of this commitment, who can count on anti-seismic structures in their community; a fixed point against the depopulation of beautiful territories.
The Rava Foundation is also involved in other health and education projects. We supported the setting up of a gynecological clinic in Arquata del Tronto and we are participating in the reconstruction of the new hospital in Valnerina (Cascia), supporting the project of the Municipality, Usl Umbria 2 and the Monastery of Santa Rita.
The Foundation has also organized educational workshops, educational trips to Milan and established scholarships for students in the areas affected by the earthquake. It is close to the publication of a book created with the collaboration of the Norcia children and famous authors for children, with the aim of continuing to raise funds and support new projects.
