Dear Generous Donor,
For years, they have searched for answers about their missing loved ones. They have carried the pain of uncertainty, fought to keep their families together, and refused to let the world forget those who disappeared.
But who is standing beside these women as they fight to be heard?
Thanks to your generous support, 20 Syrian women—mothers, wives, sisters, and daughters of the forcibly disappeared—came together in Gaziantep on October 12 for the first session of Freedom Jasmine’s new project, From Absence to Presence.
This was more than a training session. It was a step toward turning years of pain and silence into confidence, strength, and meaningful participation.
During the four-hour session, participants learned how to:
Build stronger relationships and establish healthy personal boundaries.
Speak with confidence when dealing with institutions, officials, and difficult situations.
Stand up for their rights through practical role-playing and communication exercises.
Recognize their own strength and prepare to take a more active role in their communities.
These women have spent years advocating for missing loved ones while supporting others facing the same uncertainty. Yet their voices remain too often excluded from conversations about justice and Syria's future.
Your support is helping change that.
At the end of the session, participants expressed their appreciation and asked for something powerful: more opportunities to learn, grow, and strengthen their ability to advocate for themselves and others.
Their request reminds us that one session is only the beginning.
Dear donor, thank you for making this first step possible. Your generosity is helping women who have endured unimaginable uncertainty reclaim their confidence, strengthen their voices, and move closer to the meaningful participation they deserve.
The search for their loved ones continues. But these women should not have to fight for answers while remaining invisible themselves.
Together, we are helping transform absence into presence—and pain into a stronger voice for justice.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Freedom Jasmine Team
