Dear Valued Donor,
Humanitarian workers are often expected to remain strong for everyone around them.
They listen to painful stories, support survivors, respond to crises, and carry the emotional weight of communities affected by conflict, displacement, and gender-based violence. Yet their own wellbeing is too often overlooked.
On the seventh day of the program, participants stepped away from technical training to focus on the person behind the work.
The session addressed self-care, stress management, vicarious trauma, and professional burnout with honesty and openness. Women learned how prolonged exposure to distress can affect their emotional and physical health, and how to recognize the warning signs before exhaustion becomes overwhelming.
Participants were also introduced to practical strategies they can use to protect their wellbeing while continuing to serve others effectively.
A full-group self-care exercise gave them more than a moment of relief. It provided a practical model they can later use in their own training sessions and within the communities they support.
Your contribution is helping women understand that caring for themselves is not a sign of weakness. It is essential to sustaining compassionate, responsible, and effective humanitarian work.
Thank you for supporting the people who stand beside survivors and vulnerable communities every day.
When caregivers are supported, they can continue protecting others with greater strength, balance, and resilience.
With sincere appreciation,
Freedom Jasmine Organization
