On May 9, Freedom Jasmine welcomed 25 women in Gaziantep—earthquake survivors, relatives of missing persons in Syria, and displaced women rebuilding their lives far from home.
They came carrying different stories, but many shared the same experience: loss that had never been given enough space.
The session explored grief not as a sequence of stages to complete, but as something that can remain within a person—quietly shaping emotions, relationships, decisions, and daily life.
For many women, survival had required them to continue caring for children, supporting their families, and adapting to displacement before they had time to acknowledge their own pain.
Through gentle expressive activities, participants were invited to approach difficult emotions safely and at their own pace. They reflected on the losses they carry, the ways grief appears in their lives, and what can happen when that grief is finally recognized rather than hidden.
The response was immediate and deeply felt.
Some women spoke openly. Others expressed themselves through the activities or simply listened. Each response was respected, because grief does not look the same for everyone.
Your support helps create spaces where women do not have to explain away their pain or face it alone. It allows them to be heard, understood, and accompanied with care.
Thank you for helping Freedom Jasmine provide women with a safe place to begin carrying loss differently.
Grief may not wait for the right moment—but healing can begin when someone finally makes room for it.
