When Women Find a Safe Space to Heal

By Yasmina | Project Leader

Dear Supporter,

In Daraya, many women continue to carry invisible burdens shaped by years of conflict, displacement, loss, and uncertainty. Behind every daily responsibility is a story rarely spoken aloud.

This April, Freedom Jasmine created a space where 25 women were finally able to pause, breathe, and speak openly about something often overlooked: their own mental and emotional well-being.

The participants included wives of detainees, families of the missing, and women returning from displacement and earthquake-affected communities. For many of them, this was the very first time they had taken part in a conversation focused entirely on mental health and self-care.

Through an interactive and supportive session, the women explored what mental health truly means — not simply the absence of illness, but the ability to regain emotional balance, cope with daily stress, rebuild relationships, and care for themselves as well as their families.

More importantly, the session reminded every participant that seeking emotional support is not weakness, and mental well-being is not a privilege reserved for a few — it is a basic human right.

What made this gathering especially meaningful was the atmosphere itself: a safe, welcoming environment where women felt heard, understood, and less isolated in their struggles.

Your support helps create these moments of connection and recovery for women who have endured years of hardship in silence.

Thank you for standing beside them and helping restore hope, dignity, and healing within communities affected by crisis.

With gratitude,
Freedom Jasmine Team
