Dear Supporter,
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to advancing justice, dignity, and legal awareness for Syrian women and families affected by conflict.
In Gaziantep, Turkey, Freedom Jasmine recently brought together 23 women — all family members of detainees and missing persons — for the first of two legal awareness sessions focused on transitional justice and the right to reparations.
The session introduced participants to the meaning of reparations as a legal right owed to victims of human rights violations, not an act of charity. Women learned about the five recognized forms of reparations, ranging from financial compensation to official acknowledgment and guarantees of non-repetition, as well as the international legal frameworks that protect these rights.
For women living in displacement, far from the country where their loved ones disappeared, the session provided something deeply important: clarity, understanding, and the beginning of a pathway toward claiming their rights and seeking justice.
As part of this initiative, surveys were also collected to contribute to an ongoing evidence-based research report spanning 34 sessions. The findings will help strengthen advocacy efforts and inform future support for families of detainees and missing persons.
Your support makes these conversations, safe spaces, and opportunities for empowerment possible.
With sincere appreciation,
Freedom Jasmine Team
