Help Support Palliative Care Patients in Ukraine

We are pleased to report that funds are arriving to help palliaitve care patients in Ukraine and surrounding countries! We are supporting hospice and palliative care programs in Ukraine through the All Ukrainian Association of Palliative and Hospice Care and the International Renaissance Foundation in Kiev. We also are supporting our colleagues at Hospice Casa Sperantei in Brazov Romania, and the Prima Homines Foundation for children in Poland.

We have been very fortunate to have received an emergency grant from GlobalGiving for $50,000 for our Ukraine appeal!!!

So far we've provided over $17,200 for items below (these are just examples)

Children's items - Nappies & pampers - Formula - Baby Food

Medical supplies - latex & surgical gloves - bandages - tape - plaster of paris - sutures - urine bags - syringes - etc

Medicines - Antibiotics - Pain relievers - IV fluids - Laxatives - Sterioids - etc

Food items - Rice - Cooking OIl - Baby Food

Counseling sessions from psychologists

One of our recipients is the Regional Palliative Care Centre in Ivano-Frankivsk where they have 31 patients in hospice, including four patients who arrived from Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Dnipro as refugees, in addition to the patients being cared for at home. More adult and child patients are arriving from the East and they coordinate efforts with all the other hospices to meet bed needs. There is a significant shortage of bandages, diapers, & medicines that are not available now, and are relying on items purchased in Romania and shipped to the border for them to pick up. Funds from our appeal are helping to cover those & other costs.

We are still processing requests for funds from our palliative care colleagues in Ukraine, Romania, & Poland that are more than the funds we have received to date, so please continue to support these unmet needs!!
