Taylor Trophy Awarded to English Speech Competition Winner

On September 14, the Ishinomaki District English Speech Contest was held in Ishinomaki City, and Asuka, a third-year student at Konan Nishi Junior High School in Ishinomaki City, won the championship and received the Taylor Trophy established by TAMF. On the 29th, TAMF advisors Otsu-san (far right in the photo) and Endo-san handed the Taylor Trophy engraved with Asuka’s name to her (second from the right) at the same junior high school. The photographer is Endo-san, who is also the creator of the Taylor Cup. The Ishinomaki English Speech Competition is a yearly junior high school event. The participants receive coaching and encouragement from Assistant Language Teachers (ALT) from the JET and other programs that help Japanese students learn English from a native English speaker.

Japan Open for Tourism

It is so good to see that Japan is open again now that the pandemic has subsided there.  Randolph-Macon College, Taylor’s alma mater, will be sending students once again in January. We plan to visit our friends and partners and the many new Taylor Bunko’s since our 2019 visit in April, 2023.

Giving Tuesday

GlobalGiving is giving away $1,200,000 during our 24-hour GivingTuesday campaign! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Nov. 29, to participate.

Thank you for your support which helps us continue programs like these to help Ishinomaki families, schools and students affected by the disaster to continue to recover, learn and expand their horizons! Please follow us on Facebook/Tamfjp
