A new Taylor Anderson Reading Corner (Tayor bunko) was donated to Yuriage Elementary and Junior High School in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. Endo-san, Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund (TAMF) advisor and woodworking artist, attended the gift ceremony on October 12 and presented Taylor Bunko bookshelves, book vouchers, and books to Principal Kamitani, the principal of the elementary and junior high school. The bookshelves are installed in the library, and there are a total of 6 bookshelves, one round bookcase and two short bookshelves for elementary school students, and three tall bookshelves for junior high school students. According to Mr. Endo, the top panel of the bookshelf is embedded in an arch shape of redwood, which is inspired by "a bridge between Japan and the United States."

On September 22, Ms. Yuna Suzuki of Kawanaminanto Middle School, who won the poetry section of the annual Ishinomaki District English Recitation and Poetry Competition, was awarded the "Taylor Anderson Award" trophy and award from the advisor of the Taylor Anderson Memorial Fund and Endo-san. The annual competition was held on September 12.

A wooden bench was set up in front of the Taylor Anderson Memorial in the Ishinomaki Minamihama Reconstruction Memorial Park. It was created by Endo-san, who named it "Japan-U.S. Bridge Bench." Endo-san said that Taylor's desire to "become a bridge between Japan and the United States" was made into an arch shape at the back, and the large and small holes were inspired by stars to mourn the victims of the tsunami.

GlobalGiving Giving Tuesday Donations Matched on November 28th

If you’re considering a donation to TAMF this year, Giving Tuesday is the day to do it! This 24-hour campaign takes place on GivingTuesday, a global day of giving celebrated by nonprofits, corporations, and donors alike! GlobalGiving is offering a $1,200,000 Incentive Fund that will be distributed to participants proportionally based on final fundraising totals. The more we raise, the more matching money we earn!

GlobalGiving’s 100% Monthly Match is also available to the GlobalGiving nonprofit community for all of 2023. New monthly donations set up during the 2023 GivingTuesday campaign will be eligible for both the immediate match outlined by these terms, and the one-time 100% match (up to $200) to be received after four monthly payments!

Thank you for your support which helps us continue programs like these to help Ishinomaki families, schools and students affected by the disaster to continue to recover, learn and expand their horizons! Please follow us on Facebook/Tamfjp
