Vulnerable young people: Job and life skills

We are very happy with the Project we are running.

As we have already mentioned in our previous report , Micaela and Emanuel are working at Unilever.

This is their first opportunity in the working world, and a really   life changing experience.   Besides their new jobs, they  started studying  at  a very well reknown  University of Argentina (Universidad de Belgrano). Micaela is studying Chemical Engineering and Emanuel Industrial Engineering.

At  Unilever they started on March 9th. They work from Monday to Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm. During  the mornings they attend  university classes

Unilever appointed two mentors to help Micaela and Emanuel with the technical aspects of their new jobs.  Fundación Oportunidad has been tutoring them in order to support the onboarding proceess and the adaptation to the values and company culture.

Our work not only includes working  sessions with Emanuel and Micaela, but  with their families as well.

Both families have anxiety about the new experiences Micaela and Emanuel are living. That was a main issue that and   concernes  and orientates  our intervention in the field

Nowadays, Micaela feels cheerful and excited about what is going on with her present life.

She is studying for the exams. Physics is the subject that she is worried about but she feels confident and she knows she will overcome this situation.

Emanuel is the first one in his family to access higher education.

He was impressed with the University and how is all organized there. He  is struggling with some subjects, and he ask for special academic support as the school where he comes from didn´t give him enough tools to face the challenges that he university presents to him.

At the same time they started an internship job  in one of the most important companies in the world. They will be working in the areas that match their educational interest.
Side by side with the tutors from FOP  and with the  constant support from the company, Micaela 18 years old, and Emanuel 20 years old, are transforming their lives and the lives of their  families.

During 2014 we provided socio-labor training to 1210 socially challenged young men and women who are finishing high school so they have tools to access the job market and are able to create their own projects.

Out of 250 students, 20 were pre-selected to access a scholarship to continue their studies of engineering at the university and to get a paid internship in a renowned company. Two of them made it!

We are really proud of our job and we'd like to increase new opportunities for students to go to university and get a decent job.

Our goal for the year 2015 is to have more resources in order to create more social inclusion.

Your help means a lot to them!

Last but not least, we'd like to thank our first donor: Mr. Hernan Bolotchi for believing in us.
