Vulnerable young people: Job and life skills

Dear Donors,

2021 is bringing  hope and a new horizon after a very difficult year. We are hoping that with the vaccine the situation will improve and the activities with groups and communities can finally resume.

The entire budget for the project was put on hold watiting for a good and secure time in which it can start. We are still working remotely as is it still not safe to meet in person. Our sponsors and partners are supporting our decision to wait in order to implement the project with the same spirit and expected outcomes that motivated its design as we are aware the  postpandemic situation will be critical for vulnerable populations, in general, and specially among youngsters.

We want to thank you all for your patience and support, and hopefully we can all have better months ahead.

We wish you a happy new year and we will keep you posted on coming news.

Keep well and safe.

Dear donors,

Hope this email finds you safe and well.

It took us a while to manage to get in contact, as we have been very much impacted by the global pandemic. We needed to close our office in mid February and put on hold all our projects.

We kept working on line but not being able to move forward any of the social projects for which we have already set a team, funds, and partnerships. The pandemic is hitting still very hard in Argentina, currently being at its peak with more than 8000  new cases per day.

We are in close contac with our partners and sponsors to sustain the dedicated network that we have built in order to start with the implementation of the projects as soon as the situation begins to be a little better.

We will keep you informed as the local context evolve.

Thanks very much for you support.

Dear donors,

As you may know the crisis in Argentina, induced  the social organizations to develop creativenes and resilience. Since September, we have been working in further and deep changes to the already approved and already financed project to work with young people, in order to adapt  it to the new economic and political scenario.

We are happy to announce that we are now expecting the final aproval for this new version of the project in which we aim to train in subjetictive and profesional training to a group of 60 youngsters. This program will have specific partnerships with govern, unions and private sector. We will be working as well with work insertion experts that will provide mentorship during the application process that each youngster will go through at the end of the training phase.

We are thrilled that despite the complex context from Fundación Oportunidad, we were able to find a way to provide vulnerable young people to the resources that will expand their vital oportunities.

We will be back soon with more infomations and details.

Thanks!!!

Dear donors,

We are happy to share good news with you. We have just started with the planning and agenda of three open community activities, specially designed for young people. We will be working  in III OPEN SPACE, with more than 300 youngsters, who are willing to think and share their views and desires on youth work inclusion.

These activities will take place in alliance with public secondary schools, sport clubs and social field organizations. With the support of the Goverment of Buenos Aires and the Dirección de Fortalecimiento para las organizaciones de la Sociedad Civil  we are now in the process of setting the dates for these activities.

What is an Open Space?

THE ONLY LAW: THAT OF THE TWO FEET

If at any time you feel that you are not learning or contributing  anything, use your two feet. Go to another meeting where you

can learn or contribute. No one should be in a meeting that they consider boring, only people who are genuinely interested in the topic should attend a meeting.

The 4 principles:

1. Any person who appears at a meeting is the right person.

2. What happens here will be the only thing that could happen. Be aware of what is happening now, and not what could happen

3. Any time you start is the appropriate time.

4. When [the meeting] is over, it's over. It encourages participants not to waste time and, on the contrary, to change to another topic when a discussion ceases to be fruitful for them.

We are thrilled to be just to start these new activities with this new creative methodology. We will be sharing news soon with the results!

Many thanks!

Dear donants,

2018 and this first quarter of 2019 have been difficult for Argentina, and specially for those who are struggling to find a job. That is why from Fundación Oportunidad we have been working on builing a strategic powerful network that could allow us to pursue our purpose: help  vulnerable youth to build a life project through job inclusion

We are in the final stages to close a partnership with a a key partner who is willing to think and do thing out of the box. We found out that the idea of designing projects as an ecosystem, provide the clarity of the elements that are needed to make the project actually happen. In a ecosystem, there is no centre, all elements are related and co-dependent. That means that the common purpose if the share denominator that invite all the different actors to be part of the system: youth, State, private sector, NGO,  university.

We hope to have this already setlled, by the time of our next report.

We appreciate your support!

Thank you very much,

FOP Team
