As with many pangolins rescued from the illegal wildlife trade, Lily had been held captive for a number of weeks with no food or water and so she was found in a critical condition. She was severely dehydrated and under weight. Did you know 288 Pangolins are snatched from the wild every day! Every life counts and it is imperative that she is helped back to prime health and fitness as quickly as possible. We need your help to return her to where she belongs, the wild!
Lily was confiscated from the illegal wildlife trade in South Africa. Seized from two individuals who were subsequently arrested. Many pangolins that are recovered from the illegal wildlife trade are found in a very poor condition as they have not eaten or drunk in days, sometimes even weeks as they are kept locked up in a bucket, box or bag. Lily was no exception and she was also found to be pregnant so it is imperative that she is helped back to prime health and fitness as soon as possible.
In order for Lily to reach full health she requires extensive treatment and rehabilitation. This is a lengthy process that can take up to 3 to 4 months to complete and so becomes extremely expensive as well. Can you help us raise the funds we need to treat and rehabilitate Lily so that her and her unborn baby may be returned back to where they belong?
288 pangolin are snatched form the wild EVERY DAY! It is imperative that every life is saved to ensure the survival of this amazing and shy species. So little is known about pangolins and so every rehabilitation reveals a little more about these amazing animals. In Lily's case, as she is pregnant, we also have the added responsibility to save the next generation. Pangolins do not cope well in captivity, and so the only way to save this species from extinction is to keep them in the wild.
