Waking up to a sharp pain in his chest in the early hours of that morning, Zain experienced one of his worst nightmares. Thirty-seven year old Zain with no history of heart disease was suffering from a cardiac arrest.

“It was 4:30 a.m. when I woke up with extreme pain. With no time to waste, I instantly dialed 1021 from my mobile and reached out for help.” shared Zain.

When the Aman command and control team received an emergency call in the morning that day, the Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) immediately asked some standard questions to assess the criticality of the patient. Upon learning that Zain was suffering from major symptoms of a heart attack, the EMD instantly dispatched the nearest ambulance towards Zain’s house. Simultaneously, the EMD also asked Zain to take an aspirin and wake up someone in the house to ensure continuous communication. Upon reaching Zain’s house, the paramedics immediately took the patient’s vitals.

On the way to the hospital, the paramedics also administered oxygen and proper positioning of the patient as per protocols. The ambulance reached Agha Khan Hospital in about three minutes and Zain was rushed to the ER where the doctors found out that 99% of Zain’s artery was blocked.

“The reason why I chose to call Aman ambulance was because I knew that it is the only ambulance that is well-equipped for emergencies and there are trained healthcare professionals inside the ambulance, who ensure treatment is begun the second the ambulance arrives.

“Had you been five minutes late to the hospital this morning, you might have not have survived.” the doctors had told Zain, as he was being discharged later that day. “The Aman ambulance team proved to be reliable and I am grateful to them for saving my life that day.”

Hussain, a rickshaw driver, works day and night to make both ends meet. He received a call from home that his wife was in pain and has to be rushed to the hospital. Worried and helpless, Hussain took his wife to the hospital in a rickshaw.

Upon reaching the hospital, the doctors asked for her to be shifted to another hospital due to her precarious situation. It was at that moment when his wife’s sister decided that they should call an Aman Ambulance instead of waiting further. The Aman ambulance arrived within a few minutes.

Hussain’s wife was crying in pain. The paramedics were able to stabilize his wife’s condition within the ambulance because it was so well equipped. From that moment on, Hussain saw a ray of hope. Relieved, he put his trust in the paramedics, who successfully delivered the baby in the ambulance. “It was like I was in an expensive hospital.

"The paramedics cleaned the baby and handed her to me; the feeling was otherworldly”. Hussain remarked that he got better treatment in the Aman Ambulance than he would have received in a hospital. “That is what saved my wife’s life. What more could anyone ask for?”

So far, over 150 babies have been safely delivered in the Aman Ambulance within Karachi.
