NEWAH has been implementing integrated water supply projects that promote hygiene and sanitation.
In 2022-2023, NEWAH continued the total sanitation approach to encourage sustainable behavior change in hygiene and sanitation. This involved monitoring and educating the community on hygiene and sanitation through tole education, capacity building of volunteers, child health groups, and school WASH committees.
NEWAH also facilitated the construction of hygiene and sanitation facilities like drying racks, washing slabs, and hand washing stations. The communities are oriented to keep water and soap at hand washing stations to ensure proper hand washing practices.
Information Education Communication (IEC) materials were distributed to raise awareness on hygiene and sanitation. NEWAH aims to provide safe water to users and promote household-level treatment systems at the point of use to prevent contamination. The WASH related days were celebrated for the awareness and promotion of hygiene and sanitation behavior. Various awareness programs and training programs were organized to mark Menstrual Hygiene Day in all the project districts.
