Project Report | May 18, 2026
Thank You for your help!

By Monika Mostowska | vicepresident

 Dear Friend,

The war in Ukraine continues to affect thousands of families who have been forced to leave their homes, communities, and ordinary lives behind. Since Russia’s full-scale invasion, many civilians have lived under constant threat of air raids, missile attacks, blackouts, and shortages of basic necessities.

For people escaping from the most heavily affected regions, finding a safe place is often the first and most urgent need. Many arrive exhausted, frightened, and without possessions. Some have lost their homes completely. Others do not know whether they will ever be able to return.

In this difficult reality, Pallottine parishes in Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Lviv continue to serve as places of refuge. Parish buildings, offices, and meeting rooms have been opened and adapted to welcome displaced families. These are not just temporary shelters. They are places where people can sleep safely, receive food and hygiene products, warm themselves during blackouts, and slowly regain a sense of human dignity.

Thanks to your support, this project helps provide practical, life-saving assistance: food, clean water, hygiene items, basic medical support, generators, fuel, and equipment needed during power cuts. It also helps renovate and furnish parish spaces so that families can live in more stable and humane conditions during the war.

Current Fundraising Status

Total goal: €68,847
Amount remaining: €6,467
Number of donors: 254
Monthly donors: 3
Fundraisers: 7
Project duration: 3 years

Behind every number there is a real person: a mother looking for safety for her children, an elderly person who cannot manage alone, a family that has lost its home, a wounded person in need of care, or a child who simply needs warmth, food, and peace.

What the Project Has Made Possible

With the help of donors, the Pallottine communities in Ukraine have been able to continue their humanitarian mission despite extremely difficult conditions.

The support has helped to:

  • provide food, water, hygiene products, and essential supplies to displaced families;

  • keep shelters functioning during blackouts through generators and fuel-powered equipment;

  • prepare safer and warmer living spaces in parish buildings;

  • support medical assistance for injured civilians and soldiers;

  • protect families from homelessness, cold, hunger, and isolation.

In cities such as Kyiv, Zhytomyr, and Lviv, rooms that once served as offices or meeting spaces are being transformed into places where families can live. This work may seem simple from the outside: a bed, a table, a heater, a generator, a clean room. But for people who have lost everything, these things mean security, dignity, and a first step toward rebuilding life.

Why This Help Still Matters

The humanitarian crisis in Ukraine is not over. Homes are still being destroyed. Families are still being displaced. Infrastructure is still being damaged. During attacks, people continue to lose access to electricity, heating, water, and communication.

That is why continued support remains so important. Emergency aid is still needed, but so is longer-term care. Families do not only need to survive one day. They need a place where they can remain safe for weeks or months, where children can rest, where elderly people can receive care, and where people can begin to recover from trauma.

The Pallottine parishes are able to respond quickly because they are already present among the people. They know the local communities, they see the needs directly, and they can turn donations into concrete help without delay.

Long-Term Impact

Your support does more than provide material assistance. It gives people the strength to endure.

Because of this project, families who might otherwise face homelessness can live in safer conditions. Children can sleep in warm rooms instead of cold corridors or overcrowded shelters. People affected by war receive food, care, light during blackouts, and the reassurance that they have not been forgotten.

This help also carries a powerful message of solidarity: Ukraine is not alone. The suffering of its people is seen. Their dignity matters. Their lives matter.

This mission is also strengthened by the commitment of volunteers. Harry from the United Kingdom is once again travelling to Ukraine to support the Pallottine parish in Kyiv. During his stay, he will help with practical humanitarian work, including supplying refugees with food and assisting in the distribution of meals.

His return to Ukraine is a meaningful sign of solidarity and courage. It shows that help is not only financial — it is also personal presence, time, service, and readiness to stand close to people who suffer. For displaced families in Kyiv, this support means something very concrete: a meal, a kind word, and the assurance that they are not forgotten.

With sincere gratitude, we thank every donor, monthly supporter, and fundraiser who has stood with the people of Ukraine.

Your generosity has become shelter, warmth, light, food, medical care, and safety. It has reached families at moments when they had very little left. It has helped children and adults experience not only survival, but also care and dignity.

Thanks to you, many people and children in Ukraine were able to experience a more peaceful and hopeful Christmas, even in the middle of war.

Together, we continue to help Ukraine endure — and hold on to hope.
