HOME Storytellers will produce an impact film that through real personal stories will shed light on the successful refugee education, leadership and income generating programs of our grassroots partner organization There is Hope in Malawi. This documentary will dramatically increase awareness and program fundraising to amplify the positive transformation that There is Hope is already generating in the lives of refugees at Malawi's largest refugee camp, Dzaleka. Phase 1 - Project Development
According to the UNHCR, more than 34,000 people have fled their home countries' extremely violent situation and arrived to the Dzaleka camp in Malawi. Most refugees have little or no education and live in extreme poverty. There are organizations responding to their basic needs but how do you implement a more sustainable solution in a host country that is one of the poorest in the world? How do you help the refugees become self-reliant? How do you make people aware so they can support solutions?
There is Hope, our grassroots partner organization in Malawi provides access to education and income-generating activities to refugees and their host community, as well as strengthening their spiritual well-being. HOME Storyteller's film will significantly increase There is Hope awareness/funding to continue widen opportunities for refugees to move towards self-reliance. A film well produced and strategically distributed has the power to reach a wide audience, inspire change and ignite action.
By helping us fund this project you are partnering with HOME Storytellers and There is Hope in creating a film that will give a loud voice to the Dzaleka camp refugees. Their feelings and experience will be heard globally through our impact strategy bringing long-lasting support to their cause. Our team that includes National Geographic visual storytellers will deliver the highest quality documentary film to ensure that There is Hope raises 10 dollars for every dollar donated to this project.
