The project will improves the welfare of working and not working donkeys at Mwakitolio local mines Shinyanga Region Western Tanzania through donkey community education partnership on caring of donkeys, making donkey pack saddles,Veterinary care and relief donkey thirsty by building permanent donkey water troughs, with empowering village leaders the animal welfare law and regulation. Donkeys are loaded with gold stones from hills direct down to crashing sites for more than 8 hours
There is more than 1000 working donkeys at Mwakitolio local gold mines loaded with gold stones from uphills to crashing sites without any pack saddles which produces donkey back wounds, donkey working more than 8 hours in sun days without rest or place to drinks water, No medical care available on working donkeys with poor knowledge on basic donkey care, animal welfare law is not enforced within mining sites and nearby villages.donkey are left to find their own food
By providing pack saddle making knowledge within donkeys owners & handlers will be a sustainable way of protect donkey back wounds, permanent donkey water troughs will help donkey to access to clean water,empowering donkey owners on knowledge on basic donkey care so that they will be able to look and assessing the welfare of their donkey from their home, providing donkey veterinary care will protect donkeys from diseases and improves their health and protect donkeys by law and local regulations
We will protect 1000 donkeys from back wounds, by their owners to provide pack saddles We will help more than 1000 donkeys and other animal to have permanent place for drinking clean water. We will help more than 300 donkey owners & handlers on improving their donkeys through basic donkey care educational knowledge We will help village leaders and law enforcers to implement animal welfare law and regulations to stop animal abuses cases
