Our project kicked off seven Beehives

With the invaluable support of generous donors, our beekeeping project was able to kick off and has already made significant strides. An experienced trainer was engaged to equip the first batch of rural small-scale women with essential knowledge and skills in beekeeping. Beyond the simple production of honey, the overarching goal is to uplift and transform these women's lives, providing them with additional means to sustain their livelihood.

Seven Beehives Distributed

Though the ultimate target is to benefit 65 rural women, the project has been jumpstarted by distributing seven beehives. These women (some came along with their husbands), have shown immense enthusiasm and readiness to participate in the beekeeping initiative.

Like many endeavours, this project faced its share of challenges. Extended heavy rains have delayed the start of operations. Also, we couldn't get materials from the village, but we ultimately sourced from the city (20 km away).
Out of the seven beehives that were distributed, only three have been colonized so far. The farmers remain committed and they are learning from each other. They formed a local beekeeping group, through which they are sharing experiences while collaborating with the trainer.

Our unique appreciation

One unique aspect of this initiative is that donors who contributed to the project had beehives named after them, to symbolise their invaluable support and connection to the cause.

As we eagerly await the opportune moment to begin this transformative journey, we remain steadfast in our commitment to empowering women, creating sustainable change, and fostering a brighter future for the community of Hoima.

Stay tuned for more updates as we work to end extreme poverty in Uganda through sustainable Livelihoods.
