Touching Lives!

Donations and continued support from benefactors have allowed Take Heart Association Project (THAP) to intervene in the lives of 61 additional needy children and families this period. This number is beyond the thousands of children and families that were helped with surgeries, interventions, medicine, food, personal care packages, accommodation, and support over the past 26 years, and who now enjoy healthier lives.

During the past three months, fifty-one (51) patients received an array of services that include:

  • Medicine: THAP provided 21 patients with post-surgery, sustaining medicine this quarter.
  • Medical Reviews: 19 patients journeyed to Bomet for medical reviews this quarter. Patients were presented for screening at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet Kenya in September.  The screenings were conducted by Mending Little Hearts, a UK based Foundation.
  • Accommodation: 11 patients were accommodated at the THAP Family Support Center in Nairobi this quarter. Baby Tami remains a resident of THAP Support Center and continues to receive weekly treatment for heart ailment at the nearby Mater Cardiac Hospital.
  • Care packages: 10 post-surgery families received educational literature and care packages.

Within the last few months THAP received 13 new patients with heart ailments that need urgent intervention. There are also many children on a Waiting List that require assistance so the work continues. THAP and Children & Charity International wish to say a hearty 'thank you'  to the cardiologists, surgeons, medical teams, support staff, and interested stakeholders that collaborate and screen THAP’s patients, and perform much needed surgeries. We look forward to continued collaboration to better serve those in need.
