It's time for youth actions!

By Iwona Olkowicz | Project coordinator

It's time for youth actions! /Polish version below/

A lot has happened recently - we organized classes for new groups of volunteers, showing them what volunteering is, how they can implement their ideas and change the world locally, and with whom they can implement their initiatives. They made maps of local resources - during the classes, beautiful, colorful maps of towns and villages were created, where young people discovered allies who can support young volunteers with their resources.

Together we planned actions that young people will carry out this spring. Some of the actions have already been implemented: young people from the school in Dubeninki organized a cleaning campaign for their neighborhood. They involved the entire school community and neighbors to clean up the area. They write about their campaign: 'It was terrifying how many garbage bags we filled. We could find everything in the roadside bushes: bottles, old toys, parts of a baby stroller, cans in the pond, and even a swivel chair. What a a sad sight!"

Youth from Stawiguda planned and implemented a campaign to help a local hospice. During the local festivities, a fundraising event was organized for the youngest charges of the hospice. The youth organized a number of attractions to encourage residents to financially support their action. They collected a total of more than $2,500, which credited the account of the facility that helps the terminally ill.

Young volunteers from Drygay are at the stage of planning a campaign to support homeless animals. They focused on supporting cats and dogs - young volunteers like to support animals, and most often it is animals harmed by fate and people who receive the help of empathetic and enthusiastic young volunteers.

In April, we also organized film workshops - once again we invited David, our filmmaker, who like few others, can inspire young people with a passion for filming.

He showed not only the secrets of good photography and filming, but also encouraged young people to test their smartphones themselves. We gave the youngsters small accessories for recording (microphones, blenders, tripods) and encouraged them to record film shots on their own, to perform in front of the camera and overcome stage fright.

Until the end of May, we are waiting for the videos created by the youth - we will show them at the June Volunteer Film Festival, which you can still support!

Just go here: http://goto.gg/63661 and make a donation, and thanks to it we will be able to finance transport for young people from small towns and villages, refreshments and prizes for active young volunteers. Please, help us organize a cool recap!

PS. You're probably wondering why we don't publish nicer photos, with the faces of happy kids. In February 2024, we implemented the Child Protection Policy, which prohibits us from using the image of our young volunteers to raise funds. That's why we show such photos, to respect the privacy of the young people we work with. We hope you understand this :)

Czesc akcji juz zostala zrealizowana, m.in. mlodziez ze szkoly w Dubeninkach zorganizowala akcje sprzatania swojej miejscowosci. Zaangazowali cala spolecznosc szkolna i sasiadów, aby posprzatac miejscowosc. Tak pisza o swojej akcji: „To zatrwazajace, ile zapelnilismy worków. W przydroznych krzakach mozna znalezc wszystko: butelki, stare zabawki, czesci wózka dzieciecego, w stawie puszki, a nawet krzeslo obrotowe. Smutny to widok”.

Mlodziez ze Stawigudy zaplanowala i zrealizowala akcje pomocy na rzecz lokalnego hospicjum. Podczas lokalnego festynu organizowano zbiórke pieniedzy dla podopiecznych hospicjum.

Dalismy mlodziezy drobne akcesoria do nagrywania (mikrofony, blendy, statywy) i zachecalismy do samodzielnego nagrywania ujec filmowych, do wystepowania przed kamera i przelamywania tremy.

PS. Pewnie zastanawiasz sie dlaczego nie publikujemy ladniejszych zdjec, z twarzami zadowolonych dzieciaków. W lutym 2024 wdrozylismy Polityke Ochrony Dzieci, która zabrania nam wykorzystywania wizerunku naszych mlodych wolontariuszy do pozyskiwania srodków. Dlatego pokazujemy takie zdjecia, aby szanowac prywatnosc mlodziezy, z która pracujemy. Mamy nadzieje, ze to zrozumiesz :)
