/Polish version below/

First of all, we wish you a Happy New Year! We hope that this year brings you a lot of good activities, good decisions, and a lot of joy and satisfaction. May it be a good year for all of us! And we are very grateful that you believe in our work!

In the first semester of the school year, we worked in 8 elementary schools, with more than 150 young volunteers. The youngsters are committed to planning and carrying out the actions they come up with, most of which involve supporting homeless dogs and cats. The youths collect money on the streets to use the collected funds to buy whole food and pay for veterinary procedures needed by animals in shelters. Other groups of volunteers supported sick children in the hospital, educated kindergarteners about safety and good manners on public transportation, and organized Christmas packages for poor and neglected children from the sociotherapy center. We accompanied the young volunteers with joy as we watched them responsibly and committedly help others more in need. The young people agreed on the details of the action with the adults, planned the actions step by step, and promoted the actions in the local environment. We are very pleased that we were able to reach 4 new schools, where, for the first time, young people are carrying out volunteering in schools on their own.

Teachers tell us that our actions are innovative in their schools because until now it was the teachers, a bit like instructors, who lead the youth "by the hand", organizing all the important things - ideas for actions, agreements with partners or recipients of help, and the youth passively follow the instructions of adults. Thanks to us, young people are beginning to learn teamwork, getting along together as a group, dividing into subgroups to carry out micro-tasks, and, importantly, involving their surroundings in their activities (parents, local government officials, local entrepreneurs) in their actions and skillfully incorporate local resources into their actions. In this way, they can deal with difficult situations and know who can support them and on whom they can rely. This is very important for young people because they don't feel alone, but independent and have a sense of influence over what happens in their schools.

We recently released a publication (thanks to a grant from the Education for Democracy Foundation), which is the first such multimedia compendium of knowledge about our method of participatory youth work, including some tips and good advice, as well as videos and podcasts. The publication is prepared in Polish and can be viewed here:  https://wiatrakimazur.org.pl/pomocni/. While working on the publication, we also changed the name of our program to HELP-FULL, because volunteers HELP others and develop their superpowers to the FULL.

We have launched another edition of Oxford debates in 3 elementary schools, which raised a lot of concerns... among teachers who lack confidence in the skills of young people. Youth want to debate, although they are only at the beginning of the road to becoming good speakers. But what's important for us is that young people want to be heard, want to express their opinions, and are moving more and more smoothly from arguing to discussing arguments. Next semester we will organize further debating classes, but we are counting on your help! By clicking here http://goto.gg/57433 you can help us realize inter-school debates.

In parallel, we also work with young people from 4 high schools who are learning debating. We have already held a series of workshops in which we introduced the youth to the topic of debating, showed them the differences between arguing and debating, worked on argumentation and counter-argumentation, and public speaking. In the last class, we devoted ourselves to fake news and verifying sources of information. We are already organizing the final debate on January 17. We will inform you of the effects in our next report.

W pierwszym semestrze roku szkolnego pracowalismy z 8 szkolami podstawowymi, gdzie wspólnie z nami dziala ponad 150 mlodych wolontariuszy.

Ostatnie zajecia poswiecilismy fake-newsom i weryfikowaniem zródel informacji. Juz 17 stycznia organizujemy finalowa debate. O efektach poinformujemy w kolejnym raporcie.
