Mariyka’s Story
Mariyka was born prematurely at 35 weeks. On the second day of her life, she developed jaundice, which did not go away despite treatment. She was hospitalized, and doctors diagnosed her with:
Dystonic-hyperkinetic syndrome
Bilirubin encephalopathy
Subatrophy of the brain
Mixed hydrocephalus

At 3.5 months old, Mariyka began attending rehabilitation courses, including massages, physical therapy (LFC), and medication treatment. By the age of one, she was classified under Group A disability with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy and irreversible motor disorders. Since then, she has undergone intensive rehabilitation every two months to continue her development.

This is our fifth rehabilitation course, and each one brings incredible results!
With your support, we were able to complete:
Physical therapy (LFC)
Massage therapy
Speech therapy complex
Laser therapy
Sensory integration therapy
Correctional education

At the start of the course, Mariyka also underwent a neurologist consultation and electroencephalography (EEG).

Positive Progress:
For the first time in three years, Mariyka is sleeping through the night
Her physical and emotional state has improved
She is more active and engaged
She has better control of her hands
She has started using a pointing gesture
She holds her head more confidently and is making intellectual progress

Dear friends, thank you for supporting Ukrainian children with disabilities, particularly those with cerebral palsy! I would like to share with you the story of a little girl. Meet our lovely little lady, Mariyka! She was born in January 2021 at 35 weeks of pregnancy. On her second day of life, Mariyka developed jaundice and underwent phototherapy for five days. On the seventh day, she was discharged, but the jaundice persisted. She was then hospitalized in the neonatal pathology department for 10 days and was diagnosed with dystonic-hyperkinetic syndrome, bilirubin encephalopathy, delayed motor development, brain subatrophy, and mixed hydrocephalus.

Since the age of five months, Mariyka has been attending therapeutic physical exercise sessions, receiving massages, and undergoing medication treatments. At one year old, she was classified with disability subgroup “A” and diagnosed with "cerebral palsy and irreversible motor disorders." When Mariyka turned one, she began intensive rehabilitation every two months. Now she is two, but she still struggles to hold her head up, sit, roll over, or walk. Continuing her treatment is essential for her progress. Our main goal now is for her to walk independently and to help her socially adapt.

Good day! I am Marina Nabok, the mother of three-year-old Mariyka, and I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to undergo a course at the "International Center for Rehabilitation and Neurophysiology." This is our second course, and each one brings remarkable results. We attended sessions for physical therapy, massage, speech therapy, laser therapy, sensory integration, and correctional pedagogy. At the start of the course, she had a neurologist consultation and an EEG. This is our second rehabilitation course, and we see positive progress—her sleep has improved, she is more active, her hand movements have improved, and she has developed a pointing gesture. Mariyka is holding her head more confidently and developing intellectually. Her physical and emotional well-being have improved.

You are giving my child a chance at a full life. During these times, when there is war in Ukraine and we are from Sumy Oblast, where explosions are constant, thanks to you, we can continue to pursue our goal and undergo these vital rehabilitation courses, each of which gives us hope and confidence.
