On 10th February 2022, our team were at Government Junior Secondary School West of Mines Jos for an orientation event for the JSS 1 student organized by the school Guidance and Counseling Master who is oneof our trainees of our #LinkingTeachersWelfareWithQualityAndStandard project supported by the TY Danjuma Foundation. Speaking on the theme "Determined to Learn" our Executive Director Mrs. Keturah Shammah have charged the students to be determined in their pursuit for education by ensuring they have a goal, they believe in their abilities and avoid distractions that will stand against their school completion. She said, #Girls_Education_Mission_International will work alongside the school management in combating obstacles that might cause drop out among the girls. One of our GEM Impact Volunteer Educators (GIVE) Ms. @Ivhobe Omoayena who leads GEM's community/school outreach programs was there to share how Girls Education Mission International would work with the school in implementing programs that will ensure the girls are retained, learn and complete their education with dignity. Among the attendees from the school were, Guidance and counseling master who organized the event, the GJSS principal, vice principal, Vocational technical master, and many others.
Having the total number of 215 girls, these girls who are mostly from low-income family’s needs to be supported with sanitary pad to ensure they complete their education.
