This project empowers girls through access to affordable, hygienic sanitary pads produced through the GEM Pad innovative manufacturing unit. By producing and distributing free pads to low-income girls and providing menstrual hygiene education in schools and communities, the project boosts confidence, improves hygiene, and enables girls to stay in school and thrive.
Millions of women and girls cannot afford sanitary pads which are priced high due to costly production. Many resort to unhygienic alternatives, leading to infections, skin irritation, and public embarrassment. Lack of proper menstrual hygiene also negatively impacts girls' school attendance, performance, confidence and overall well-being.
This project will establish GEM's innovative sanitary pad manufacturing unit to produce affordable, hygienic pads for all women and girls. In partnership with schools and communities, GEM will distribute menstrual hygiene materials and provide education on proper period management, helping girls stay confident, maintain hygiene, and improve school attendance and performance.
This project will enhance girls' access to quality education, improve menstrual hygiene management, and provide sustained mentorship for personal and professional growth. By influencing government policies and advocating for girls' education, it ensures long-term sustainability of empowerment initiatives, fostering confident, healthy, and educated girls who can shape Nigeria's future.
