Hurricane Fiona's trajectory through the Dominican Republic has left thousands of vulnerable families without homes, increasing the level of food insecurity in the affected areas of the East and Northeast Zones of the country. The RD Food Bank is receiving and distributing the aid, but food donations are not enough, so we need financial resources to buy food and cover the costs of transportation and distribution of the aid that our affected brothers and sisters need.
In the affected areas, there are large populations with food insecurity and malnutrition; which due to the effects of Hurricane Fiona, have worsened.
With the purchase and distribution of healthy food, we will be able to give access to balanced and nutritious diets to families, orphanages, nursing homes and more affected communities.
By receiving abundant, safe and nutritious food, we contribute to the food and emotional security of children and beneficiaries, in addition to creating awareness about the benefits of having access to healthy food.
