Banco de Alimentos RD responds by delivering urgent, nutritious food assistance to families who lost everything, helping them survive the crisis and begin to recover with dignity.
Severe flooding caused by days of intense rainfall in the Dominican Republic has destroyed homes, crops, and livelihoods, leaving hundreds of families in extreme food insecurity. In rural areas like Rancho Arriba, floods have also disrupted agricultural production and food supply chains, reducing access to nutritious food when families need it most.
Banco de Alimentos RD will rescue, collect, and distribute nutritious food to floodaffected families. Working with farmers and local partners, the project will transform surplus and donated food into emergency food packages, prioritizing the most vulnerable households and helping stabilize food access during the crisis.
This project will reduce hunger among disasteraffected families while strengthening local food recovery systems. By supporting farmers and food supply chains in areas like Rancho Arriba, it helps prevent food waste, improve resilience to climaterelated disasters, and promote longterm food security in vulnerable communities.
