A camp for refugees and displaced persons is founded on the suburbs of Ouagdougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. There are 450 of people with children. They came from the north of the country escaping from terrorist attacks. To live, they need everything: food, hygiene measures, clothes, education of their children. We have to help them. The fundraised money will be passed to missionaries, who will buy for them the necessary products and pay for education of the children.
In the past year the terrorists' attacks on civilians in Burkina Faso have surged, triggering a tenfold increase in displaced people.The refugees are escaping from the North of the country to the capital city. The camp on the suburbs of Ouagadougou came from the province of Bourgangha, village Pisile. The terrorists masacrated people. Nine persons were murdered, many injured. Majority of them are Muslims. They founded the camp 8 km from Polish missionaries. They need our help.
The aim of the project is to equipe the community with basic food and hygiene mesures and let the children to go to the local school. Now we have to act fast as they are numerous and during the time of Covid-19 pandemic they need special hygienic protection. We want to organize support for them for the further 6 months untill they find some jobs to earn for living. Gradually, one by one they will leave the camp as the new job will allow them to be self-sufficient.
Potential long term impact: when they get help now to live in good, hygienic conditions, they are not hungry, they are able to look for a job to change their life for better. If the children go to school, the educational gap is covered. The children are not wandering around without any aim, but are getting knowledge to have better life. The first months of they living in the refugee camp are crucial. It can't be a period of stagnation leading to deaths and crimes but a good start to a new life.
