Our students and pupils have been at home since mid March 2020 due to covid 19 in the country as earlier reported.  Parents, learners and teachers had hopes that by now learning would have resumed as usual but this has not been the case since the virus has been spreading for the last couple of months.  It is obvious now the year 2020 has been wasted for the learners and the candidates feel the pinch more than the rest.  They were supposed to sit for their final exams later this year beginning November but the story is now totally different.  In the course of the week, the Kenya government has announced that there are possibilities of reopening schools next month (October) although the official communication has not been given.  Learners are ready to report back to school after extremely long break.  Candidates will have no choice but to prepare for their final exams next year 2021.  It is our hope that the disease will come to an end as the students report back to school.  The government has promised to observe all measures as directed by the ministry of health to ensure safety of the students, teachers and the subordinate staff involved. We all hope for the best for our schools as we are all looking forward to see things get back to normal.  With the learners being out of schools for that long period, challenges have been increasing each and everyday both to the parents and learners. There have been very many negative cases reported concerning learners where young school girls in primary and secondary schools have been reported of getting pregnant since March while others have been involved in early marriages.  There have been reported cases also of learners killing others as a result of love relationships all this because they have been out of schools for very long time.  In our program we have not received any negative case from our beneficiaries and we are optimistic that they will all report back to school in good health once the schools are opened.  We plan to visit different schools where our beneficiaries are to be sure that they have reported back as we also give them moral support and especially the candidates.  In our next report we look forward to positive reports on the progress of our beneficiaries.  Thank you all for your continued support.

The year 2020 started very well and we all had a lot of hopes that the year would be more fruitful than last year but things changed and most activities could not continue operating normally including institutions.  This was after covid 19 hit the country just like other countries in the world.  The government closed all the institutions indefinitely in mid March to date.  Since then, students and pupils have been at home with no idea of when the schools would resume.  It is very unfortunate and especially to the candidates who were preparing for their final exams later this year.  The government has not given clear directions on the way forward in regards to the schools reopening or even position of the final national examinations.  In our program we have 2 candidates who were preparing to sit for their final exams later this year and we have been following up with them on their progress where they express their stress as they cannot access on-line learning services as other candidates due to various challenges among them lack of smart phones, computers, internet connectivity etc.  It is unfortunate since we cannot assist them much although we provide revision materials when we have them and of course encouraging them to continue doing studies on their own with other students in the villages though observing safety measures.  We thank God since there are no reported corana virus cases in the villages and we continue encouraging  our communities to observe and practice safety measures in order to protect themselves, their families especially children who have little knowledge on corona virus.  We remain optimistic that soon the disease will come to an end and things will be back to normal very soon and we will have our students and pupils report back to school and continue with their studies.  Thank you all for your continued support

The year 2020 started well and appreciates the opportunity given to see another new year. Our schools opened in early January and all our beneficiaries reported back as expected. They are progressing on well and we wish them well as they start the year in their new levels. We managed to pay school fees for our beneficiaries although we did not manage to continue supporting the form one students who we supported last year and since we had promised to support them for 1 year, we prepared their parents and guardians in advance so that they can source school fees elsewhere. We had encouraged them to apply bursaries offered by the government and we are happy some of them were supported and we hope others will benefit also in the course of the year. We feel sorry since we could not include them in our program although we have not given up and we will definitely consider them and possible others if we are successful in fundraising this year. Thank you for making it possible next year and we request for further donations. Just as previous years, we have received many request from students and parents/guardians from different areas to consider supporting them and due to limited resource we have not promised them any support. We have been encouraging them to seek support from other service providers like banks, other NGOs, Faith based organizations and foundations and some of them were lucky to get scholarships. It is our wish to support as many as we can but unfortunately it have not been possible to accommodate more vulnerable students. We request for more support from our GlobalGiving friends for us to continue with the program as we thank you so much for the achievements realized this far.

It’s approaching the end of the year and we thank God for the far that we have come together with our beneficiaries. The road has been tough but we are grateful we have achieved in one way or the other. Our last year beneficiary has now joined Maseno University although it is unfortunate we were not able to support him much as we hoped. We contributed to the fundraising that the family organized and they raised some money to cater for his first semester fees and personal effects as the family continue sourcing more funds for the entire university course we wish them all the best and we will be contributing little support as we do more fundraising. Thank you to all those who made generous contribution to support this program. Our secondary school beneficiaries are progressing on well, they are now preparing for the end of the year exams which will see them going to the next learning level. We don’t have any candidate this year but next year we will have 3 of them we wish them all the best. Parents and guardians have started approaching us requesting us to consider supporting their children who will be joining secondary school next year. It is so unfortunate as we cannot promise any support at the moment. We are even concerned since we are worried of what will happen to the few students who joined form one this year and we committed to support them only this year. We are encouraging their parents and guardians to consider applying for school bursary offered by the government. It is not easy and we hope some of them if not all will get some support. We have not given u though as we count on our friends and well-wishers to join us in fundraising and mobilizing resources to continue supporting the vulnerable students. Thank you again for your continued support and the achievements that you have contributed towards. As we conclude the year, please appreciate our sincere gratitude and we humbly request for more support for further achievements in supporting vulnerable students towards education.

Progress with our beneficiary students has been fantastic and we sincerely appreciate the support given to these vulnerable students. They reported back to school after short April holiday. They all came to the office to bring their report forms for the first term and we are happy with their performances. They are doing well and we keep encouraging them to work even harder for them to achieve their objectives. As earlier reported, our last year candidate was expecting admission letter to join public university in the cause of the year and we are happy to report that he has received admission letter to join Maseno University to pursue medicine course and he was very excited. His parents, friends and well-wishers are mobilizing resources to help him pay school fees and meet other requirements as expected by the university. We had hopes to support him but unfortunately we have not received much donations to enable us continue supporting him like we did when he was in secondary school. We contributed some support but we have not given up on fundraising. The other beneficiaries in secondary schools are doing fine and the beneficiaries in form one are progressing on well and they are happy in their secondary schools. It has been challenging to raise funds and we are concerned on how to continue supporting the increasing number of vulnerable students and their families, we request all our well-wishers to consider contributing to our project for us to continue supporting our beneficiaries towards education. We appreciate the support given this far and we pray for more blessings. Thank you for the continued support.
