Help Educate 330 Mukinyai School Orphans, Kenya

The first school term is now and students and pupils are at home for April holiday.  The term has been very challenging for many parents and students as reported by many head teachers from different schools.  It has been extremely dry since January this year and farmers have been negatively affected as majority depend 100% on farming for their livelihood.  Mukinyai farmers have had very rough time as they could hardly pay school fees for their children and most of them were sent home for school fees every now and then.  The rains are yet and they fear that the second term might be worse but we hope the situation will improve. 

Some guardians & parents were not able to support their children to secondary school after class eight as they were not lucky to receive scholarships from different institutions and donors.  This resulted to the young youths searching for informal jobs and helping their parents in the farms to make the ends meet.  Majority students were promised to be enrolled in vocational training centers by their parents and guardians but again not all were lucky due to the prolonged drought.  They are still optimistic that they will have opportunity to either join secondary school or vocational training centers for skills development.  We are happy that we have some donors who have contributed towards this project and we are in the process of identifying the most vulnerable children who we will support in education as we have limited funds to accommodate many.  Thank you very much for this wonderful contribution which will support few orphans in their education.  We continue fundraising and inviting all well-wishers and donors to consider supporting the most vulnerable children in their education.  We are humbled by your generosity and may God bless you abundantly.

Some of our beneficiaries from Mukinyai primary sat for their final exams in November 2016 and they are expected to join secondary schools in January 2016.  Parents and guardians are in the process of sourcing school fees for them though it is very challenging.  Most of them are small-scale farmers who mainly depend on farming for source of income.  Last year farmers were challenged by the harsh climate change which resulted in reduced yields and in some areas total crop failure.  This has been a challenge to the small-scale farmers and they have to look for another alternative to source income which includes acquiring loans.  Some of them have approached us for support but due to limited resources, we have not been able to meet their request and instead refer them to other organizations and other institutions like banks for support.  We would wish to support these families but unfortunately, we are a bit low on resources and not in a position to accommodate more scholarships beneficiaries.   This year we will work hard towards funds raising so that we can support more disadvantaged people in our society and especially on education and community livelihood.  We call upon well-wishers to join us in improving living standards of the needy people in our society.  We also thank all those who have supported us and request them to extend their support even this year.
