The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown have created havoc in the lives of poor families, jobs lost, businesses shut down, fighting hunger, disease, their children are on the verge of discontinuing education. As this situation warrants an urgent response, we plan to provide the affected families with food, Medicine , hygiene kits, support them to revive their businesses, motivate them to find jobs, support their children's education and equip them with skills for livelihood.
Due to the pandemic, daily wage earners have lost jobs, savings dried up, they are starving. Others had to close down their businesses like eateries, salons. Their children's education badly affected, with schools closed, children are neither getting their mid-day meals nor access to education. The must Dos during a pandemic are washing hands, maintaining hygiene but the poor have no access to hygiene kits. We have identified 2000 vulnerable families with varied needs.
It will help 2000 underprivileged families survive by giving them groceries, other essentials. Entrepreneurial training classes, providing them with monetary support will help upgrade their skills and revive their businesses. We have already started conducting virtual classes for their children. The children will also get school supplies. To keep them safe from the virus threat, we will provide poor families with hygiene kits. Community counseling centers will help them cope with anxiety.
The daily wage earners' families will get immediate food supplies and medicines so they will not go hungry or risk their lives to migrate. Our Counselors will motivate them to find jobs again and co-create individualized development plans for the families. With monetary and non monetary livelihood support, their businesses will be revived. This will restore their dignity and confidence. Continued educational support to children will keep them interested in schooling, will secure their future.
