Project Report | Jul 14, 2026
February - July 2026

By Joseph Ddiba | Team Leader

Following the earlier delays, construction activities on the multi-sports court at the Kayunga Community Center continued through support from different individuals and partners who contributed through GlobalGiving and offline fundraising efforts. These contributions, together with support from Truth Design Academy and the local community, have enabled the project to continue moving forward.

Through accelerated construction efforts, the project has made significant progress, and the multi-sports court is expected to be completed by the end of August 2026.

Construction Progress UpdateGround Preparation and Site Improvements

The rocky ground that had slowed down construction progress has now been addressed. The site has been cleared, leveled, and prepared to support the remaining construction activities and ensure the long-term durability of the facility.

Pavilion Construction

Construction of the pavilion is currently underway. The pavilion will provide a sheltered space for community gatherings, sports events, training sessions, and youth development activities.

Spectator Seating

Spectator seating has been constructed and is currently awaiting final finishing touches. Once completed, the seating area will provide a comfortable space for parents, community members, and visitors to watch games and participate in community events.

Current Status

The project is now in its final stages, with major construction components completed or nearing completion. The remaining activities focus on finishing works, improving safety, and preparing the facility for community use.

Remaining Activities (Target Completion: August 2026)

The final phase of construction will include:

  • Completing the pavilion and final finishing works

  • Adding final touches to spectator seating areas

  • Painting the court surface and marking sports lines

  • Installing fencing around the court for safety and security

  • Purchasing and installing multi-sport equipment

  • Final site cleaning and preparation for community activities

Community Participation and Sustainability

Community members and local partners continue to play an important role in supporting the project through labor contributions, monitoring progress, and ensuring community ownership of the facility.

Truth Design Academy continues to provide additional financial support through its social enterprise model, helping cover ongoing construction needs and ensuring continued progress toward completion.

Once completed, the multi-sports court will serve as a safe and inclusive space for children and youth in rural Kayunga to participate in sports, mentorship, mental health activities, life skills education, and community engagement programs.
