Help complete sports court for rural children

Project Overview
The construction of the multi-sports court at our Kayunga Community Center continues to be a vital initiative under Ba Nga Afayo Initiative Uganda. This facility will provide rural children with a safe and structured environment for sports, fostering physical activity, teamwork, and community engagement within Kayunga District.

Progress Summary (March – August)

Funding Milestones

• International Olympic Committee Grant (via Beyond Sport): While we successfully secured this grant earlier in the year, the disbursement of funds experienced delays, which extended the project timeline to October 2025. These funds remain critical for covering the major construction phases.

• Truth Design Academy Proceeds: Revenue from our social enterprise, Truth Design Academy, continues to support the project by supplementing construction costs and ensuring steady progress.

• Community Contributions: Local fundraising initiatives and partnerships with sports organizations remain active, demonstrating strong community ownership of the project.

Construction Progress

• Drainage Works: Following earlier preparations, drainage implementation has begun to ensure the court is functional year-round despite seasonal rains.

• Concrete Base Preparation: Final preparations are underway for casting the concrete base. This key milestone will commence immediately upon receipt of the IOC funds.

• Basketball Integration: Existing basketball posts remain in good condition and are being factored into the finalized design.

Challenges and Adjustments

• Delayed Disbursement of IOC Funds: This has been the most significant factor pushing the completion date to October.

• Weather-Related Delays: Continued rainy spells emphasize the importance of completing drainage works before laying the court’s base.

• Final Enhancements: Additional support is still needed for painting, fencing, and installing multi-sport equipment once the court structure is finalized.
