As we move into 2025, Kids Club remains a safe, inclusive learning space where children with special needs continue to grow, build confidence, and develop essential skills. This quarter has been both rewarding and challenging, as we see increasing demand for our program and face the reality of soon losing our current venue.
Increased Demand and Strengthening Our Special Needs Program
The past months have brought more families seeking alternative education for their children with disabilities. With specialist volunteers joining our program, we have been able to expand our reach and involve more children than ever before. It’s a clear sign that word is spreading—parents see the progress happening at Kids Club and want their children to experience the same support, routine, and joy of learning.
One of the most heartwarming moments has been seeing Beng, our skilled baker-turned-educator, take on a larger role in special classes. Originally helping in our café, Beng quickly became a key figure in the lives of many children with special needs, as parents specifically requested her as their teacher. It’s inspiring to see a community leader become such an important part of these children’s growth.
New Activities: Learning Through Experience
To foster creativity and environmental awareness, our children with special needs have taken part in several new activities:
•Beach Clean-ups & Recycling Art – We combined learning and action by cleaning the shoreline, discussing why plastic waste is harmful, and then turning the collected materials into art pieces at our Recycling Art Studio. The children enjoyed creating unique crafts from waste, making the lesson both fun and memorable.
•Hands-on Learning Visits – Some of our students with disabilities had the chance to visit our Recycling Art Studio, seeing firsthand how trash can be transformed into new products. This helped build their understanding of sustainability while allowing them to engage in sensory-friendly activities.
•Life Skills & Daily Routines – Our older students continue to join practical workshops, learning to cook simple meals, practice personal hygiene, and complete small household tasks—important steps toward independence and self-confidence.
A Major Challenge: Losing Our Venue
One of the biggest challenges ahead is the loss of our current venue by the end of March. While our space has limitations—like being elevated and restricting physical activities—it has been a home for many children, a place where they feel safe, accepted, and encouraged to grow.
The good news is that we have secured a piece of land in a central, safe location near the public schools. This ensures that Kids Club can continue—but we need to fundraise for construction. Our goal is to build the new venue in stages, prioritizing basic infrastructure, a classroom for special needs education, and a storage space for learning materials.
Looking Forward: Expanding Our Reach
With so many new families reaching out, we are exploring ways to bring Kids Club beyond our walls. Many children with disabilities in far-off barrios cannot travel to us, and we hope to extend our impact through outreach programs. While this is still a dream, we believe that with continued support, we can make education accessible to even more children in need.
Thank You for Your Support
As we fundraise for our new venue, we are reminded that this project exists because of our community of supporters. Your generosity allows children with special needs to feel seen, valued, and capable. Thank you for believing in them and in our mission.
We look forward to updating you on our progress, the transition to a new venue, and the continued success of our students.
With gratitude,
