Update on Progress of the Cambodian Children’s House of Peace
Project “Help Cambodia's Children Escape Poverty and Abuse”
September – November 2013
RETURNING FROM VACATION AND CLEANING UP
After one month of school break, our children finally returned from their home villages to our Children’s Home with smiling faces and browner skins, some of them having worked on their family rice fields during their school break. They are happy to be reunited with their friends, bringing back noise, joys and purpose to our organization again.
The rainy season has been affecting us since May and it brought a lot of rain, bringing grasses and plants around our school to life. Our children had already helped clear some areas of the ground before leaving for their homes for holiday, but in other areas stand tall grasses and plants, the nest of many mosquitoes, who are always a danger in this part of the world. Staff and children thus worked together to remove these grasses and plants, to destroy the habitat of harmful insects and dangerous animals such as snakes.
BACK TO SCHOOL
New academic year 2013 – 2014 begun in early October every year. Our children go to school every day. Some attend the morning session and others in the afternoon session. They usually get up early morning, take a bath, brush their teeth, have breakfast and dress up in school uniform with happy face. You can see their satisfaction and hopes for their bright future, resulting from their hard working at school. They strongly determined to produce good results. They want to bring fame and reputation to our organization, their family, and especially for themselves, as they have clear purpose to root out poverty. They believe that only good education can lead them to peace, prosperity, dignity and better living conditions. It is difficult being born in a poor family, it would be worse that the families our children build continue that way. Through education, our country will be developed sustainably, because of well managed policy stemmed from highly qualified human resources who not only contribute to their own country, but also the world.
SMILES FOR BICYCLES!
With HUGE thanks to our wonderful donors, our children were given new bicycles to replace their old and damaged ones! With the generous support of our donors, we were able to raise funds so the children can once again have safe and reliable transportation not to mention, bikes that they absolutely love! Lots of different coloured bikes and LOTS of smiles from our CCHP children. The children are so happy now that they have new bicycles and are going to make sure they take extra good care of them! Thank you so much to our donors and friends for making this possible – we appreciate your support so much and wish you the very best.
FOOTBALL MATCH WITH NEW LEAVE BOOK CAFE
As you may know that young adults are very active in different kinds of sports such as football and volleyball. During this reporting period, Our CCHP children started their Sunday with a football match with the New Leaf Book Cafe at a football club called Main Sports – besides their volleyball that they usually play in the Children’s Home. It was a lovely day for our children and the Cafe. They played for one hour with a lot of goals. Sports are good for the children and they still practise at the Children’s Home during their free time. They really love sports. They had lots of fun – all and the children absolutely loved their time on the field!
