Progress Report on “Help Cambodia's Children Escape Poverty and Abuse”

of the Cambodian Children’s House of Peace

June – August 2014

CHILDREN’S EDUCATION

All the children at the Cambodian Children’s of Peace – CCHP have completely finished their final exams and learned the results, and we are so proud since all of them except one have passed their exams. The one who failed will take another exam next month for the final one which will determine whether she must repeat the year or go to the next grade. She is studying hard to make sure that she will pass it and we strongly believe that she will move ahead. All of them are very proud of themselves and so happy about the exam results. The staff will keep on working hard to ensure that all the children’s goal is achievable.

INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S DAY

On the first of June which is the International Children’s Day, CCHP’s children and children from other organizations in province of Siem Reap as well as children around the globe celebrated the International Children’s Day, June 1st. We went and joined other children at a local restaurant organized by Angkor Cable TV, a local cable TV company. It is a great opportunity for our children to meet other children and for them to show their talents. We had a great time and enjoyed the performances, ranging from simple skill demonstrations to highly talented skills. We are very grateful to Angkor Cable TV that invited us to the event.

DENTAL CHECK-UP

Recently, a charitable organization provided with free dental services for children from varous NGOs here in Siem Reap. With the help from this organization, the children of the Cambodian children’s House of Peace had an opportunity to have their dental checkup at one of the best dental clinics in Siem Reap. As a result of their dental checkup, some of our children have problems with their teeth which need drilling, scaling and polishing their teeth and so on. It is thanks to the organization that provided us with free dental services. Now our children have better dental health and great smiles.

A FIELD TRIP

CCHP children had a great time going on a field trip to Preah Vihear temple in Preah Vihear province, one of the most famous temples in Cambodia located in the top of a mountain. The trip was great as the children enjoyed seeing the beautiful views of forests and hills from the top of the mountain. The children took noted of the history of the temple explained by our local tour guide. They raised lots of questions about the temple and took lots of pictures. Thanks to our old friend from New Zealand who sponsored the trip. The children had a great time – they will never forget this time.

Once again, on behalf of the children we would like to thank you very much for your donations and supports – friends like you make our project possible.
