The BCR Miracles Keep Happening!

By Samantha Steffens | Executive Director

Snoop, our latest blind cat
Snoop, our latest blind cat

Friends,

This new year brought BCR some snow, which we rarely see!  We made sure the cats were all warmly tucked into their houses.  The snow didn’t last very long but it was pretty to look at!

As 2026 moves into spring, we happily continue our mission of welcoming to BCR cats who quite literally don’t have a chance.  Whether they stay with us for years or months or even weeks, our promise is to offer each one the same love and care.  It’s always hard for us when our kitties cross the Rainbow Bridge and leave us, but those losses open the door for another kitty who would likely be euthanized to experience love, care, health and freedom from fear.

Since I last wrote, we said goodbye to two longtime residents of BCR, Cassie and Sophie, and two of our newer kitties, Terra, one of the cats we rescued in Ohio, and King, who had only been with us a couple of months.  We miss them all so much.

We also welcomed a new FIV-positive kitty, Tom, a blind kitty, Snoop (pictured above) and Wonton (below), who is positive for both FIV and feline leukemia.  Just this week, we’ve added sweet Scone to our group of FIV+ cats.  All of these new arrivals faced certain euthanasia had fate not intervened for them and a rescuer stepped up to help.

Your kindness and support for the BCR cats gives them the chance they would never have had. You not only help us take care of them, you also make sure that the cats continue to teach the world that they and all cats like them deserve to live and be loved.

That basic message of love and kindness is changing lives for the better and more “special” cats are being adopted into loving homes every day.

We thank you for your part in these miracles!

With gratitude,
Samantha
