Happy Summer from Blind Cat Rescue!

By Samantha Steffens | Executive Director

Dear Friends,

This summer has been a hot one already and the cats are enjoying their catio time when it’s not too hot!

The big news at BCR right now is that our new building is going up really quickly. If you didn’t know about this amazing development in our history, let me share some information with you. We opened our doors in 2005, which means we’ve now been giving lifelong care to blind cats for 21 years and, since 2011, also to leukemia-positive, and FIV-positive cats. In that time, we’ve provided a forever home to more than 400 cats (70 currently) in our three small existing buildings.

Today, the three buildings need constant and costly repairs. As they have added up, and knowing that we can’t relocate our cats during any major construction, our board wisely decided that a new permanent building made more fiscal and practical sense and was critical for BCR’s next 20 years.

If you’d like to read more about this exciting moment in BCR’s history, please visit our website www.blindcatrescue.com, where you’ll see photos of the new building going up along with the plans!

Since I last wrote to you, we’ve welcomed several new residents to BCR!  Blind kitties Clementine, Clover, Edgar, and Vinny, and FIV+ Marbles and Sketch all arrived in late spring and summer. Each of these cats has a sad backstory that we’re so grateful to make right by offering them a forever home where they can thrive in a safe and loving place. It’s why we’re here! Nothing is better than watching a traumatized kitty who is shut down and frightened begin to relax, trust, accept love and then to live their best life!

We’re able to help cats with no hope thanks to friends like you – who make everything we do for them possible. Your generosity brings love and happiness to cats who have lost everything and we thank you so much!

With gratitude,
Samantha
