This training aims to build the capacity of 22 parents, 22 community volunteers, and 12 teachers on inclusive Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) in Ntarama Sector of Bugesera District, Rwanda. The training will establish a strong network of community members who are equipped with knowledge and practical skills to support 40 children with and without disabilities who will attend the newly constructed ISHEMA Inclusive ECD Center.
Based on our community experience, there is currently a large number of children with disabilities who are still not getting enough needed support from the community. With no trained community members to assist these children causes a major barrier to accessing inclusive Early childhood development and education. This project will bring together 56 key community members to initiate and sustain a strong network of community members.
By bringing together the parents, community volunteers, and teachers, the project will provide direct support to at least 40 children and their parents each school year. The formed network will be an active change maker in the community, addressing both community attitudinal and institutional barriers.
The project will create a community network of key stakeholders who will be working closely with the newly constructed ECD center to offer inclusive services to a minimum of 40 children each year.
