Many children in underserved communities in Ghana face nutritional challenges because their families struggle to afford diverse, nutritious foods. Poor nutrition can affect children's growth, development, learning, and overall health. Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to support 500 vulnerable children through nutrition education, access to nutritious meals, and referrals to appropriate health services for children who need further assessment.
Malnutrition remains a concern for children in vulnerable households across Ghana. Poverty, rising food costs, limited access to diverse foods, and inadequate nutrition knowledge can make it difficult for families to provide children with balanced meals. Poor nutrition can contribute to growth problems, weakened immunity, difficulties with learning, and increased vulnerability to illness.
Adjah Cancer Support Ghana aims to reach 500 vulnerable children through practical nutrition support and caregiver education. The project will help provide nutritious meals or food assistance according to available funding, educate parents and caregivers about affordable, balanced diets, and promote healthy feeding practices. Children who show signs of malnutrition or require additional care will be referred to appropriate health facilities for assessment and treatment.
The project aims to improve nutritional well-being among 500 vulnerable children in Ghana. In the long term, access to nutritious food and improved caregiver knowledge may contribute to healthier growth, stronger development, better school participation, and improved overall well-being. Families may also become better equipped to make nutritious food choices using locally available and affordable ingredients.
